Die Schaffenden,edited by Paul Westheim, was published by Gustav Kiepenheuer in Potsdam. As in the other impressions for the edition, this impression has been annotated "JV" by the editor. This was because Villon’s impressions of this work for Die Schaffenden were mistakenly sent for signing to the artist Albert Gleizes. Lack of time did not allow the editor to re-direct Villon’s impressions. The solution was the editor’s own "JV", written on each impression of Villon’s etchings. There also are a few impressions which Villon signed in later years, as well as one or two earlier trial proofs.
