Duilio Barnabè

1914-1961

September, 2009

This exhibition focused on Duilio Barnabè's paintings and drawings as a cohesive and powerful creative ensemble. The artist's sudden and early death in 1961 was particularly tragic in that his works held such potential and so clearly anticipated developments in the years that followed. A noble descendant of Italy's great artistic traditions, Barnabè in retrospect can now be appreciated as a remarkable figure in his own time and as a notable precursor of future art.
