AUGUSTE HERBIN

In 1911, Herbin, together with Braque and Picasso, in Ceret, on the Riveria, participated in the creation of what we now call “high” or “hermetic cubism”. This creativity of 1911 placed Herbin together with Juan Gris, Gleizes, Metzinger and Jacques Villon as one of the founders of what we now cataogue as the “Section d’Or”, an alternative to the Cubism of Braque and Picasso.
