1. A fine impression of the 3rd State including the address of the artist, no longer found in the following 4th State.

2. There is a considerable difference between the title of this work, as indicated by Piranesi in the plate and as indicated by Hind in his catalogue raisonné of Piranesi’s prints. Hind’s full title in English is: Substructure of the Temple of Claudius at the Church of SS. Giovanni E Paolo (formerly called the Curia Hostilia). The difference of titles would appear to be caused by a more recent name given to the same structure.
