A rare impression of this esoteric subject. Grignion, of French parents, lived in England. Among his earliest works were illustrations (including this one) for the volumes on anatomy of Albinus, published by I. and P. Knapton in London in 1747. He also worked on illustrations for Statues Antiques after drawings of Dalton and on a series of illustra- tions for The Tapestries of the Vatican published in 1753.
